On 12 October, Guangdong-Latin American and Caribbean Countries Cooperation and Exchange Dialogue & Guangdong International Business Opportunities Promotion Conference, with the theme of “New Development Opportunities in the Greater Bay Area New Chapter in Guangdong-LAC Cooperation” was grandly held in Zhuhai, China. More than 100 people including representatives from Department of Latin America, Ministry of Foreign Affairs, Guangdong Foreign Affairs Office, CCPIT Guangdong Committee, Zhuhai Municipal Government, some universities, Chinese and Latin American companies, as well as 18 Latin American and Caribbean embassies in China and Latin American consulates in Guangzhou attended the conference. Dr. Zhang Song, President of Nutriera Group, was also invited to join.
The conference was chaired by Mr. Cang Feng, Deputy Director General of Guangdong Foreign Affairs Office. Mr. Fan Xinlin, Vice President of CCPIT Guangdong, Mr. Guo Lishi, Member of Standing Committee of the CPC Zhuhai Municipal Committee, Deputy Mayor of Zhuhai Municipality, Mr. Chen Ping, Counselor of the department of Latin American and Caribbean Affairs, Ministry of Foreign Affairs of the People’s Republic of China, and Mr. Fernando Lugris, Ambassador of Uruguay in China, Dean of the Latin American and Caribbean Diplomatic Corps in China delivered speeches accordingly. Ms. Pamela Coke-Hamilton, Executive Director of the International Trade Center (ITC) made a speech via video link.
As the origin of the ancient Maritime Silk Road, Guangdong attaches great importance to the cooperation with Latin American countries. The trade volume between Guangdong and Latin America accounts for 20% of the total trade volume between China and Latin America, and the cooperation between Guangdong and Latin America enjoys a solid foundation. In 2021, the Guangdong Government will hold a series of exchanges between Guangdong and Latin America in 2021 to carry out exchanges in economy, trade, culture, science and technology, agriculture, and other aspects through the combination of both online and offline. This conference is the first of a series of exchanges between Guangdong and Latin American countries in 2021, aiming to build a platform for further deepening exchanges and cooperation between Guangdong and Latin American and Caribbean countries, and promote the continuous concrete cooperation between Guangdong and Latin American and Caribbean countries in the new era.
Mr. Fu Yongge, Head of Economic Development Bureau, Executive Committee of Guangdong-Macao In-Depth Cooperation Zone, introduced the relevant development of Guangdong-Macao In-Depth Cooperation Zone in Hengqin. As one of China’s four special economic zones and a node city in the Guangdong-Hong Kong-Macao Greater Bay Area, Zhuhai ushered in the opportunity for a second take-off, with the construction of the Hengqin-Guangdong-Macao in-depth cooperation zone. And Zhuhai will rely on Macao to connect with Portuguese-speaking countries to deepen exchanges and cooperation with Latin American and Caribbean countries.
As one of the earliest teams in China aquaculture industry to go broad, Nutriera has built up a solid foundation for exchanges and cooperation with governments, non-governmental organizations and enterprises in many Latin American countries, such as Ecuador, Brazil, Mexico and Columbia. Nutriera experts have been invited to give lectures to fishery officials and aquaculture practitioners in four continents for several times, and delegations from Latin American countries have visited Nutriera Industrial Park in Zhuhai for many times. In addition, Nutriera has been invited to join Agricultural Education Technology Innovation Alliance of China-Latin America led by South China Agricultural University. The face-to-face exchanges with officials of the Latin American embassies in China and the consulates in Guangzhou will encourage Nutriera to continue its efforts and contribute to the promotion of exchanges and common development between China, Latin America and the Caribbean.China will spur Liankun to continue its efforts and contribute to the promotion of exchanges and common development between China and Latin American and Caribbean countries.
